BUGLE-NEWSLETTER. JANUARY 1, 2026

Hello Fellow Legionaries.

HAPPY AND BLESSED NEW YEAR! I am late getting this letter out, so first, my apologies (glitches on the website). Also, I would like to Thank everyone that elected me as Commander for this great Post. I am honored.

I would like to start off by saying, this is not my Post. This Post belongs to all of us, and we all are one big family. We should all be involved in what makes this Post so great.

If anyone has suggestions or complaints, please feel free to bring them up at our General Meetings, 11:00 am on the Third Saturday of the month. The bar is for our enjoyment and pleasure.

I have heard a lot of compliments about this Post being so friendly and inviting, and not just since I’ve been Commander. I have heard compliments for the past few years. You can Thank our past Commanders, Officers, Bartenders, and the membership for their hard work in making this Post successful. Every member counts. Thank you all.

I would like to mention a couple of important rules that need to be followed by everyone that visits this Post. These are rules governed by the State of New Mexico and I cannot change them, nor bend them.

WEAPONS, GUNS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE BUIDING UNLESS YOU ARE AN OFFICER OF THE LAW ON DUTY.

NO DRUG PARAPHERNALIA OF ANY KIND ON THE PREMISES OF THIS POST. IT IS STILL AGAINST FEDERAL LAW AND THEREFORE ILLEGAL AT THIS POST.

Anyone caught with weapons or drugs in the Post will be asked to leave by the bartender on duty or an Officer of this Post. The incident will be recorded, and disciplinary action can be taken, which may include suspension and possibly losing membership in this Post or The American Legion itself. I never want to see that happen in this Post. I would hate to lose any Legion family brother or sister.

If we are caught with weapons or drugs on these premises, it could cost us our liquor license, and we could be shut down permanently. Let’s not allow that to happen.

I have received complaints about racial comments or slurs. I do not take this lightly. RACISM OR RACIAL COMMENTS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. WE ARE ALL EQUAL AND SHOULD TREAT EACH OTHER WITH RESPECT. Please report any racial comments to us.

We have a fabulous Post, with great Officers, Employees, and Legion Family members.

We will be having Bingo on Jan 30th @ 7:00 PM, (cards go on sale @5:45 PM), a Chile Bowl cook off on Feb 6th at 5:30 PM, and a Super Bowl Party on Feb 8th at 2:00 PM with some fabulous prizes and raffle items.

We had a lot of fun activities last year and we hope to continue them in the New Year. We had our Pig Roast, Comedy & Dinner Show, our Annual Golf Tournament (which supported OWW), and Ugly Sweater contest & Karaoke, all of which were a great success. Thank You all for your participation.

We also have Karaoke on two Wednesdays a month and Saturday Nights, Trivia usually the 2nd Tuesdays of the month, Battle of the Wits usually the 3rd Thursdays, Song Music Bingo two Fridays a month, Fridays, and Bingo the 1st and 3rd months of each Quarter. We could use more volunteers for the Trivia and Battle of the Wits nights. (See Carla Abate).

Please check the Flyers at the bar, the FB page, Group Me page, or The Post’s website for all kinds of activities happening here at the Post. We have started our Pool League, Dart Leagues, and we are open on Sundays for Football.

We would like to have more volunteers to cook the Legion Dinners on the 1st Friday of the month, and Sal dinners on the 2nd Friday of the month. We have the Auxiliary dinner on the 3rd Fridays and Riders Dinners on the 4th or 5th Fridays. The Riders are selling food on Football Sundays as well. (The Riders will have their dinner on Jan 16th for this month).

We are in the beginning stages of starting our own Honor Guard. I have heard from State level officials, that there is a great need for Honor Guard personnel. There are only a few Honor Guard details in our surrounding areas, Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, Bernalillo, Los Ranchos, Los Lunas, Belen, Santa Fe, the Pueblos, etc. Please consider becoming part of our Honor Guard and let’s give our veterans the Honors they deserve at their final resting place. Too many veterans go without the Honors they deserve. I know everyone can not be at every funeral, but if we get enough volunteers, we can make sure we have enough for each veteran’s final farewell. Everyone that is a member of this Post is eligible to join the Honor Guard. Legion, Auxiliary, SAL, and Rider members are welcome. Please contact me or another o icer if interested. You can also leave your name and membership number in an envelope and give it to a bartender to put in my mailbox. There will be a meeting on Jan 3, 2026, at approximately 10:30. Right after the Riders meeting.

We are in the process of getting the SAL started back up. If you are a SAL member, please get with Aaron Bliven. He is the SAL Commander. Please support Commander Bliven and the SAL. Participate in the meetings and let’s make the SAL strong again.

Please make sure we have your up-to-date information, including email addresses so we can get Post activities, Calendars and information out to you via email. If you are not on the Group me or FB pages and would like to be, please let us know. I know not everyone is on FB or GroupMe. (We have our own private FB and Group Me pages open to members only).

I realize some of you don’t have internet. Please let us know how we can reach you so that you know what’s going on at our Post. If for some reason you are not getting emails, please let us know that as well. There will be copies of the Post Bugle Newsletter at the Post.

I would advise everyone to make sure all their personal information is up to date for their families. Make sure your family has a copy of your DD214, SS number life insurance papers, bank info, etc. What you would like done if you are incapacitated or in need of life support, DNR’s etc. When you pass away, where you want to be buried and what you would like done, i.e. services, celebration of life. This would help your family members tremendously and your wishes will be made known to your family members.

I wish you all a very Happy Healthy and Blessed New Year! Thank you all for your patronage and continued service to our Post. May God Bless you all.

Blessings.
